Whether it is a vintage Grumman Bearcat or a 2020 Cessna Citation, your private plane is important to you. It represents more than just a financial investment or asset; it is probably your passion. We understand that passion, as we share it ourselves. The owners of Aviator Roofing are private plane owners and pilots as well, so we have a gut-level understanding of how you feel about your baby.
We have made the protection of your private plane our passion, too. As commercial roofers with decades of experience, and over 1,000,000sf of roofing installation behind us, we know how to do the job right, the first time. This level of experience, particularly combined with an innate understanding of the protection needs of small engine planes, sets Aviator Roofing head and shoulders above the average “contractor”.
Specialty Areas
No one does everything well, and that includes Aviator Roofing. We don’t offer plumbing services or electrical work. Instead, we offer services only in the areas we specialize in. Regarding aviation focused buildings, those areas are metal hangars and metal or flat roofed terminals/facility buildings.
We are fully comfortable working on your 1-plane small metal hangar up to fleet sized terminals, showing each the same level of care, consideration and even love, that we show to our own protective buildings.
To protect your passion, Aviator Roofing offers the following roofing systems:
- Coatings
- SPF (spray foam)
- Single-ply membranes
Additionally, we provide maintenance work on gutters, to ensure your roofing system remains in peak working order, regardless of the level of rain your may experience in your area. To ensure that roofing system does its job year-around, Aviator Roofing has custom maintenance agreements, tailor-made to fit the size of your building, as well as your budget.
Roofing Systems
You may not be a roofer or may not be familiar with the roofing systems like we are. This is a brief explanation of each system and the primary benefits.
Coatings. A coating is a liquid that is sprayed or rolled directly onto your existing roofing system. As it dries, it forms a “monolithic” or unbroken layer, with no seams whatsoever. Since seams are the single biggest point of failure in a roofing system, the value of this seamless design is obvious. Some coatings are reflective, which also can reduce your cooling costs, while enhancing your personal comfort and protecting your plane from the damage associated with exposure to high temperatures.
Spray foam. Spray foam, which is known in the industry as SPF, also begins as a liquid. Again, it is sprayed directly on your existing system, reducing cost and eliminating tear-off time. SPF expands to 20-30 times its original volume as it dries, creating the same type of monolithic layer mentioned in the coatings section. However, spray foam has a very high R-factor, which means it insulates extremely well. Just like extreme heat, extreme cold is damaging to your plane. SPF can greatly reduce this risk.
Single-ply membranes. A comparable concept, membranes do not begin as a liquid, but rather are pre-made and come in rolled sheets. These sheets, whether TPO, PVC or EPDM are rolled across your roofing structure. Again, no tear-off is necessary. The sheets are either chemically adhered together or heat welded at the seams, rendering them virtually waterproof. The entire membrane is attached to the roofing structure by either mechanical fasteners or chemical adhesion. In some areas, ballast is used, but that is not as common as the other methods.
